I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of young men yesterday that give me reason to believe that the Liberal educational establishment is finding it harder and harder to fill young skulls with their morally bankrupt propaganda. These young men have started an organization on the campus of UNLV that is growing like a wild fire across the internet. The group is Lowden YP’s (Young Professionals) and the link to the group can be found at the end of this article. Their stated aim is the election of Sue Lowden to the US Senate and the retirement of Harry Reid.

The group is the brainchild of Charles Munoz, 20 years old, and Petros Leventis, 30 years old. Munoz is a Political Science student and Leventis is focusing on accounting. Both have found themselves to be Conservative in recent years.

Charles Munoz told me his family was a pretty typically non-political Southern California family. Having not been politically involved growing up it wasn’t until he entered college that he found his own voice and discovered that he had conservative principals in his DNA. He became active with the College Republicans and other groups and decided that the many groups needed a centralized networking hub to share information.

Petros Leventis said he was raised in a family of multigenerational Democrats. Although when reviewing his family members beliefs he discovered they are pretty much across the board registered Democrats, but most are pretty conservative in their views. Leventis is married, his bride being a Serbian native. His family owns and operates many small businesses in Florida that provide jobs and add to the economy.

The two met recently and decided that the best way to bring these groups together would be in cyberspace and specifically Facebook.com. The name of the group makes clear their intentions, to elected Sue Lowden to the US Senate.

I asked them why Sue Lowden was their pick.

Leventis- “Sue has the business experience that shows she has dealt with the end results of Governmental legislation. I like that she has been successful, met a payroll and been responsible for the lives of her employees.”

Munoz- “I see Sue Lowden as representing true experienced Conservatism. The other thing that really impressed me was that after meeting her just once, she knew my name. At a function she walked right up to me calling me by name. She meets a lot of people and the fact that I mattered enough for her to remember my name said something.”

I asked, as young men with an eye to the future, what issue they thought would be the most influential on their ability to provide for themselves and their families going forward.

Munoz- “First is entitlements. Too much money is being paid out to people with little thought to the total cost or from where the money will come from. We know it will come from us.”

Both agree with Sue Lowden’s platforms on Government Spending, Health Care Reform, Taxation and Job Creation. Visit www.suelowden.com for details.

Munoz added that the Health Care Reform act would have been better served with the government focusing on jobs over the last 15 months instead of a government take over of 1/6th of the US economy. He said, “If people were employed they would have the money to buy the insurance they need.”

Sue Lowden visited UNLV as all the GOP hopefuls have. As I walked around campus I got the impression that Sue Lowden is held in higher esteem than the second tier candidates. I spoke to several and while a few had no idea who was running for what, those who did follow politics had little nice to say about Harry Reid and most knew Sue Lowden’s name and said she was their candidate.

This political awareness shows in the way the group has taken off on Facebook.com. Launched just a few weeks ago they have grown from a handful to well over 300 fans, adding about 100 a week. The group is being read 500 plus times per week which for a start up page is very strong. And not all of them are UNLV students. The site is focused not only at campus folks, but all young professionals in Nevada, from young business owners and entrepreneurs to 20 and 30 somethings who are socially and politically active. It is a true meeting place and hub for information to be exchanged.

It does my 40 year old heart good to see that younger people are picking up the youth sector as many of us have transitioned into real adulthood, dare I say, middle age. But these young men have tools that we could not have imagined 20 years ago and more importantly, they know how to use them. This is one of them: http://www.facebook.com//#!/pages/Lowden-YPs/348611572257?ref=ts

I think Charles Munoz said it best, “I see Sue Lowden as a true experienced Conservative.”

But what would I know; I’m just an Average American.
